How do we prepare our body for an effective cycling session?
It is known that any prolonged exercise can cause discomfort in the muscles and bones or, in extreme cases, major injuries. Cycling is an ideal way to keep fit, but pain can occur when using a bike that is inappropriate for your age or individual physical conformation, as well as incorrect pedaling techniques or lack of warm-up before the actual training. Among the diseases that can occur, we mention: patellar chondromalacia (patellar), osteoarthritis, skin irritations.
Hydration is the main component that underlies the fight against fatigue and decreased performance during physical training. To keep your body in excellent condition, make sure you drink enough fluids, in combination with a diet with a high nutritional and energy intake (avocado, melon, tofu, broccoli, tomatoes, oranges).
Stretching prevents muscle pain while increasing joint flexibility.
The correct position during pedaling has a direct impact on the efficiency of the workout: adjusting the height of the saddle, adjusting the plate on the shoes, the height and position of the handlebars. The indicators of a correct position on the bike are: the saddle must be parallel to the ground, the leg fully extended when turning the pedal, the position of the trunk between the saddle and the handlebars is at an angle of 45 degrees, the ability to bend the elbows while walking and the natural position neck.
Clothing can also save you a lot of trouble. It is preferable to choose sports equipment that allows good breathing of the skin, thus avoiding irritations caused by excessive sweating. A complete cyclist's wardrobe contains pants, T-shirt, helmet and shoes, and can be completed with various accessories such as: glasses, hand and foot warmers, shoe covers. If you do not yet have professional cycling equipment, you can opt for the use of talcum powder, which considerably reduces the irritation caused by perspiration.
